JUST DO IT ..no excuses.

As I think about my plans for today I am reminded of the message I gave this past Sunday night.

Plans for today: Army Cousin's going away partay
Message last Sunday: JUST DO IT ..(do whats right although you have excuses)

How do these relate?

My cousin is back from Afghanistan, where he has been on and off for about a year. He works in the medic area, taking care of hurt soldiers and local children. He has faced extreme times of loneliness and despair while surrounded by all the pain and fighting. Despite this, my cousin has spread much joy and love to his fellow troopers. He has cooked them Easter ham, delivered a sermon to the troops, and offered limitless humor to the not so funny circumstances. Every step my cousin takes is out of COURAGE. He is BOLD even though he could choose from plenty of excuses to back down.

Sunday night Esther (from the B-I-B-L-E) was the star of my message. (her name actually means star!) I chose Esther because of her COURAGE. She risked her life in order to save her people, the Jews. She did not have to do this. She could have used many excuses to back down. Her boldness saved all the Jews -because she chose to do what was right --> NO EXCUSES. Esther has one of the coolest stories, check it out in the Old Testament. And we have got to give her props- there are only 2 books in the whole Bible that are named after women, and she is 1 of the 2!

Ok now, Going back to- how do these relate?
Esther and my cousin are B-O-L-D even when it's hard. Even when they are risking their lives.

This means we can be B-O-L-D even when it's hard. Even when we..
  • don't feel like it
  • don't have enough energy
  • don't want to lose certain friends
  • don't think it will make a difference
  • don't have enough time
JUST DO IT! .. do what's right- although you have excuses.
